"Who Can She Trust" is an unreleased song by American recording artist Britney Spears, intended for her fifth studio album, Blackout.
Background[]
"Who Can She Trust" was written solely by Spears and produced by American producer J.R. Rotem and confirmed in May 2006.
The song was described as uptempo with production using snap music, which is a subgenre of the southern hip-hop style crunk that uses heavy drums and finger snaps. It was described by the Los Angeles Times as "an introspective composition" and the producer says that Spears wrote the song herself, adding, "Over a "snap music" hip-hop beat accompanied by the sound of a camera shutter clicking she sings, "Where am I?/ Where will I find my face?/ Where will I find my faith?"[1]
Rotem stated, "She literally can't go anywhere without her privacy being invaded. Everybody is trying to get information. So the record we wrote it addresses the 'who do you trust' kind of thing."[2] Rotem also said that Spears has up-tempo club songs "like in the vein of [Rihanna's] "S.O.S." "as well as relationship songs "and everything in between." She even raps a bit" ("Not rap rap, but talk rap," Rotem clarified).
