"When Your Eyes Say It" is a song by American recording artist Britney Spears, taken from her second full length album, Oops!... I Did It Again. The song talks about Spears' admiration for her love interest's actions towards her, particularly focusing on "what their eyes say".

The track was released as a promotional single in January of 2001, with it being a strong contender for the album's fourth single, which later turned out to be "Don't Let Me Be the Last to Know".

Background[]

"When Your Eyes Say It" was written by Diane Warren. It was recorded at Battery Studios New York on Friday, January 28, 2000. Coincidentally, Spears' TRL appearance happened that day aswell. Production was handled by Robert Jasayeri and Steve Lunt, with Paul Umbach producing the vocals. The song has a string section.

The song is well known for being a promotional single - a CDr was sent out in the UK during January 2001.[1] The song was planned to be Oops!...I Did It Again's fourth single. Later on, "Don't Let Me Be the Last to Know" was chosen instead in early 2001.

The song is track 11 on every edition of the album. The song has an interlude at the end of the song, with Spears's friends discussing a date, and looking at a guy that they find "cute" in particular. Considering the interlude transitions into "Dear Diary", the interlude's put on the end of any bonus tracks that are after the song on special editions.

Lyrics[]

[Verse 1]
I love to hear you say that you love me
With words so sweet
And I love the way with just one whisper
You tell me everything
And when you say those words
It's the sweetest thing I've ever heard

[Chorus]
But when your eyes say it
That's when I know that it's true
I feel it
I feel the love coming through
I know it
I know that you truly care for me
'Cause it's there to see
When your eyes say it

[Verse 2]
I love all the ways that you show me
You'll never leave
And the way your kisses, they always convince me
Your feelings run so deep
I love the things you say
And I love the love your touch conveys

[Chorus]
But when your eyes say it
That's when I know that it's true
I feel it
I feel the love coming through
I know it
I know that you truly care for me
'Cause it's there to see
When your eyes tell me
I know they're not tellin' lies
They tell me
All that you're feelin' inside
And it sounds so right
When your eyes say it

[Bridge]
And the words that say take my breath away
No song ever sounded so sweet
I love every word that they say to me

[Chorus]
But when your eyes say it
That's when I know that it's true
I feel it
I feel the love coming through
I know it
I know that you truly care for me
'Cause it's there to see
When your eyes tell me
I know they're not tellin' lies
They tell me
All that you're feelin' inside
And it sounds so right

When your eyes say it
That's when I know that it's true
I feel it
I feel the love coming through
I know it
I know that you truly care for me
'Cause it's there to see
When your eyes tell me
I know they're not tellin' lies
They tell me
All that you're feelin' inside
And it sounds so right

[Interlude to Dear Diary]
"So Amanda, whatcha guys do on your date last night?"
"Oh, he was so sweet. He took me to eat and brought me roses." (Aww...)
"And then we went back to his house and watched movies."
"You went back to his house?"
"Did you guys kiss?"
"I'm not telling you that!" (Laughter)
"Oh my God, you did!"
"Shhh...oh my God."
"Look at that guy."
"He's so cute."
"And he's looking over here."
"Be quiet. Gotta be cool."
"Go talk to him."
"No...I'm too nervous."
"What would I say?"
