"When It Rains" is an unreleased song by American recording artist Britney Spears intended for her fourth studio album, In the Zone. It was produced by Fred Durst.

Background[]

The title of "When It Rains" was shown during an MTV special on Limp Bizkit's album.

After the controversy of their alleged relationship, Durst didn't allow Spears to use the songs he produced for the album.

The song was originally written in 2001 and reworked for Spears, saying that the song had "an insane back story"

The demo performed by Durst has leaked. You can listen to it here.

Lyrics[]

[Verse 1]
I've never waited so long
I'm not expecting a thing
Somethin' tells me you'll come back to me
I spend my winters alone
It gets so cold when you're gone
Somethin' tells me you'll come back to me

[Chorus]
But sometimes when it rains
There's no time to do it again
The real me wants to savor it all
In my memory, yeah

[Verse 2]
I know I made you afraid
I've been wounded too long
Somethin' tells me you'll come back to me
And I got nothin' to show
I'm sittin' here all alone
Somethin' tells me you'll come back to me

[Chorus]
But sometimes when it rains
There's no time to do it again
The real me wants to savor it all
In my memory, yeah

[Bridge]
Just know that I'll always respect you
And I'm missin' them lost summer days
But maybe it's better if I left you
A memory far far away

[Verse 3]
It's everything that I breathe
It's everything that I need
Somethin' tells me you'll come back to me
It's everywhere that I go
It's everyone that I know
Somethin' tells me you'll come back to me

[Chorus]
But sometimes when it rains
There's no time to do it again
The real me wants to savor it all
In my memory
But sometimes when it rains
There's no time to do it again
The real me wants to savor it all
In my memory, yeah

[Outro]
In my memory, yeah
In my memory, yeah
In my memory, yeah
In my memory, yeah
