Britney Spears Wiki

"See My Side" is an unreleased song by American recording artist Britney Spears, intended for her fifth studio album, Blackout.

Background[]

"See My Side" was written and produced by Bloodshy & Avant and Klas Åhlund, with additional writing from Robyn.

The song is listed in the BMI repertoire, crediting Jordin Sparks as a performer.[1] No official information has been provided about its origin.

The Rolling Stone interviewed Christian Karlsson and opened up about a song that Spears recorded. According to him, Spears never finished recording the song because she became "too emotional" and they could not finish it.[2]

The lyric was 'see my side, and I'll see yours better'. And we were trying to record it, but Britney... she was kind of too emotional. She recorded it but we could never finish it... I think that song should have made it on Blackout. It's a great song.

—Christian Karlsson, Rolling Stone

Composition[]

"See My Side" is a pop song with elements of electro, R&B and ballad. It is composed in the key of C major with 91 beats per minute, corresponding to 8B in the Camelot system.

Lyrical theme[]

"See My Side" centers on understanding, reconciliation, and mutual empathy in a relationship. The narrator is asking their partner to listen and consider their perspective while promising to do the same in return. The lyrics acknowledge that conflicts and misunderstandings happen but emphasize the importance of love, forgiveness, and working together to get "right back on the right track."

Lyrics[]

NOTE: Spears’ version is expected to be nearly identical to the released version by Sparks, possibly with only minor variations.

[Verse 1]
I've been trying for days to think of a way
To find the words to make sense of how we behave
This might take a while so, please, just hear me out
We know how things can get crazy when we go ablaze
We just get carried away

[Pre-Chorus]
Believe me, I know
Don't even say a word
Now, please, just hear me out

[Chorus]
See my side (See my side)
And I'll see yours better (See yours better)
Love me back (Love me Back)
And I'll love you better (Love you better)

[Verse 2]
Sometimes the stunts that we pull don't even make sense
But I was never the one to feel that resent
This ain't 'bout who's to blame so, please, just hear me out
When the scene gets intense, it's hard to prevent
From going all crazy again

[Pre-Chorus]
Believe me, I know
Don't even say a word
Now, please, just hear me out

[Chorus]
See my side (See my side)
And I'll see yours better (See yours better)
Love me back (Love me Back)
And I'll love you better (Love you better)
See my side (See my side)
And I'll see yours better (See yours better)
Love me back (Love me Back)
And I'll love you better (Love you better)

[Bridge]
We'll get right back
On the right track
We'll get right back on
We'll get right back on
On the right track

[Chorus]
See my side (See my side)
And I'll see yours better (See yours better)
Love me back (Love me Back)
And I'll love you better (Love you better)
See my side (See my side)
And I'll see yours better (See yours better)
Love me back (Love me Back)
And I'll love you better (Love you better)

Availability[]

On November 20, 2007, "See My Side" was officially released by Sparks on her self-titled debut studio album. However, despite that release, Spears' official vocal take remains unheard and has never leaked online. A reference demo performed by Robyn is known to exist.

NOTE: There is no known official bounce file for Spears’ version. Based on Karlsson’s comments, the recording was left unfinished due to the emotional nature of the session, suggesting any existing vocal takes are likely incomplete or rough.

Trivia[]

  • Spears also recorded "Piece of Me" in the same session as the song.
