Stefani Joanne Angelina Germanotta, known professionally as Lady Gaga, is an American singer, songwriter and actress who worked with and for American recording artist Britney Spears in 2008, for her sixth studio album, Circus.
Background[]
In 2008, Gaga penned the track "Quicksand", which Spears recorded and included as a bonus track on the European edition of her album, Circus.
Another track that was offered to Spears was "Telephone" , intending to be released as a bonus track, but was left out because the album already had a song related to phones, titled "Phonography". Gaga spoke about the song in an interview saying, "I was working with Rodney Jerkins on Pussycat Dolls material, and we wrote this song, when we were done I was like, “Oh, I want to sing it, but my album was already closed," going on to state that "Rodney called me later and was like, “Britney’s people are freaking out about this song.” Ultimately, she makes the decisions, so when I found out that she loved it and was going to record it, it was amazing." Later the song was released by Gaga featuring American singer Beyoncé.
