- "Me Against the Music" was originally going to be a solo song featuring rapper Penelope Magnet, but she later asked Madonna to appear on the song.
- The symbols in the album's booklet spell out "Britney Spears".
- "Outrageous" was sent to radio in two formats: a shortened version and version with a faster instrumental.
- "Shadow" is registered twice on ASCAP with different writers, meaning an alternate version was recorded. A fan site reported this to be a Spanish version titled 'Sombre', but this was a fake rumor.
- "Chaotic" was supposed to be a bonus track on the album, but was cut. It was later included on Spears' extended play Britney & Kevin: Chaotic.
- "Chaotic" was possibly replaced with "Brave New Girl", and was also supposed to be a bonus track.
- When the intro on "Touch of My Hand" is reversed, it's possible to hear the instruments how they were recorded.
- "(I Got That) Boom Boom" was intended to be the lead, second and third single off the album, and was confirmed as the fourth single before it was changed to "Outrageous".
- An official remix of "(I Got That) Boom Boom" known as the Collipark Remix was intended to be an alternate radio version and leaked online in 2004.
- The unreleased song "Sippin' On" was supposed to be included on the bonus CD included with the album's DVD. However, it was cut and later leaked online.
- Britney convinced to her label Jive to release "Toxic" as a single as she loves dancing to it.
- Spears called "Toxic" her favorite song from her entire discography.
- Spears co-wrote most of the album tracks, and often changed the lyrics to suit herself.
- On the international standard edition, the album includes "The Answer" which is not present in the U.S. edition.
- The first song recorded for the album was "Touch of My Hand".
- "Breathe on Me" was rumored by a fan site to be an additional single (after "Outrageous" and "(I Got That) Boom Boom", which was initially confirmed as the fourth single), but this was a fake rumor.
- The album's continued promotion was canceled after Spears injured her knee twice while on tour.
- A Brazilian magazine that previewed the album said the sixth track was called "Toxic Guy", but this was likely a translation error.
- The same magazine also said the album was supposed to be called 'Outrageous' (this also may have been a translation error, or might have been considered as the title at one point).
- "Toxic" was the only single to win Spears a Grammy.
- It was rumoured in early 2004 that In the Zone was going to be re-released with new tracks, but this never happened, and the original report was made up by a fan site.
- There is an alternative version of "Early Mornin'" - it features much stronger vocals from Spears and she says 'shit' instead of 'it' in the chorus. A snippet has leaked.
- Spears was supposed to perform "(I Got That) Boom Boom" with the Ying Yang Twins on SNL in 2003, but couldn't because they had other commitments. She then performed "Everytime".
- During the release of “Me Against The Music” Britney still had a radio ban domestically. This is the main reason why it charted so low in the States.
- "(I Got That) Boom Boom" and "Outrageous" were issued to select areas for radio airplay in late 2003 due to popular demand, and were reported to be heard by fans frequently at this time.
- An unreleased hip-hop remix of "Toxic" known as the Found Sound Remix or SatOne Remix featured rapper Bahamadia. Her label did not want to pay for the sample in the production, and it leaked online.
- Limp Bizkit frontman Fred Durst wrote and produced three trip-hop tracks that were recorded in January 2003. However, after news of an affair was revealed, Durst would not let her label use the songs.
- Britney did not want "Outrageous" as the lead single, and decided between "(I Got That) Boom Boom" and "Me Against the Music". "(I Got That) Boom Boom" was first confirmed as the fourth single before it was changed to "Outrageous". The album was possibly going to have additional singles after this but this was unconfirmed.
- There is an unconfirmed different tracklist in the early stages of the album, but this is most likely fake (it is speculated that the tracks are not in order): [+ means included , — means unused , > means reused]
- "Me Against the Music" +
- "(I Got That) Boom Boom" +

- "Toxic" +
- "Rockstar" —
