"Grow" was written by Spears, American songwriter Lisa Greene and produced by American producer Steve Anderson.

Anderson was interviewed on the Original doll podcast and described the song as an "electro-ballad" with "stunning vocals".^[1]

The song is registered on ASCAP with Spears as a performer.^[2] It was recorded in the same session as "State of Grace".
