"For My Sister" (also known as "Little Me" and "Just Yesterday") is an unreleased song by American recording artist Britney Spears.
Background[]
"For My Sister" was written solely by Spears. It was produced by English record producer and songwriter Guy Sigsworth.
The song was recorded during the early sessions for her fifth studio album, Blackout (2007). However, it is unconfirmed if it was intended for the album.
On April 7, 2006, a snippet of the track was streamed on Spears' official website, dedicated to her younger sister, Jamie Lynn Spears, in celebration of her fifteenth birthday.[1] You can listen to the snippet here,
Lyrical theme[]
In the song, Spears looks back on her relationship with her sister Jamie Lynn with a mix of love and regret. She remembers when Jamie Lynn looked up to her and asked for advice, but now she realizes she did not always see what her sister was going through. In the chorus, it is like Spears is asking for forgiveness, admitting she did not understand Jamie Lynn's struggles at the time.
Lyrics[]
[Verse 1]
Just yesterday, you were looking up to me
And you would ask me what I thought
But now I'm sitting here, all alone with my tears
Lookin' at my life that I've bought
[Pre-Chorus]
Where did I go? (Yeah)
My eyes, they will show
[Chorus]
Little me, please forgive me
I couldn't see you hurting inside
Little me
...
